Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 25, 2026 Β· Version 2026.05
Plain-English Summary
We collect only what we need to run WorkoutWoof: your account and profile, dog information, bookings and messages, device data, and β with your explicit permission β location and health/workout data (heart rate, calories, GPS routes, steps). We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. Health data is never used for advertising and is never shared with third parties for marketing. You control all permissions in your device settings, and you can delete your data at any time.
The legal details below control.
π Table of Contents
1) Introduction; Scope
WorkoutWoof is developed by REUSELOGGER LLC and provides mobile applications (iOS, Android, watchOS), websites, and related services that connect dog owners and businesses with individuals who want to exercise with dogs (the βServicesβ). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Services. By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
This Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings in the Terms.
2) Information We Collect
We collect information from or about you in four ways: (i) information you provide; (ii) information collected automatically; (iii) health, workout, and location data from your device with your permission; and (iv) information from third parties and integrations.
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account & Profile: Name (first and last), email address, authentication method, account role (individual exerciser, dog owner, or business/organization), profile photo, account preferences, and the version and timestamp of the Terms, Privacy Policy, and 18+ age confirmation you accepted at signup.
- Subscription Information: Subscription tier, status, expiration, platform (Apple/Google), and weekly session usage counters used to enforce plan limits.
- Organization Affiliation: If you are a member or staff of a shelter, rescue, or other business account, we store your organization ID and your role within that organization (e.g., admin, staff, volunteer).
- Dog Information: Dog name, breed, size, weight, energy level, photos, bio text, weekly availability and schedule, booking settings/preferences, and the approximate location (derived from the home base you set).
- Business Information: Business or organization name, type, contact details, and β where you provide it β a business or street address.
- Bookings & Sessions: Booking requests, confirmations, reschedules and cancellations, agreed meetup locations, session notes, and related context.
- Communications & Content: Messages you send to other users in chat, ratings and reviews you write, content reports you submit, users you block, and support inquiries.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device & Diagnostic Data: Device model, operating system and version, app version and build number, locale and time zone, crash logs and stack traces, and reliability/performance metrics.
- Push Notification Tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device tokens β a per-device identifier that lets us deliver push notifications to you β together with delivery status and the notification categories you have enabled or muted. Tokens are stored in our database keyed to your user account so that we can deliver notifications to your device.
- Usage and Subscription Events: Screens and features used, search queries and filters, session timing, subscription funnel events, and revenue/transaction metadata associated with your purchases.
- Log Data: IP address and similar server logs generated by your use of the Services.
- Device Fingerprint for Receipt Validation: When you purchase or renew a subscription, the app sends a limited device fingerprint (device model, OS version, and the iOS vendor identifier βIDFVβ) to our receipt-validation endpoint to verify the purchase. We do not use IDFA, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
No advertising SDK. We do not use any third-party advertising SDK and we do not perform cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not show ads in the app.
2.3 Health & Workout Data (Apple HealthKit and Android Health Connect; optional)
With your explicit permission (granted through Apple HealthKit on iOS or Android Health Connect on Android), and only while you are actively recording a workout in WorkoutWoof, we read the following metrics from your device:
- Heart rate (current and maximum during the workout)
- Active energy / calories burned
- Distance
- Step count
- Elevation gain
- Workout duration and type
If you grant write permission, we also write your completed WorkoutWoof workouts back to Apple Health or Health Connect so that they appear alongside your other workouts.
Apple Watch. If you start or record a workout from Apple Watch, your watch transmits the live workout metrics above to your paired iPhone over Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. The iPhone then writes the workout to HealthKit and to your WorkoutWoof account as described below.
Server-side storage of workout metrics. When you complete a workout in WorkoutWoof, the following workout details are saved to your WorkoutWoof account on our cloud backend (Google Firebase / Firestore) so that you and your booking counterparty can view session history, stats, and ratings:
- Workout type, distance, duration, and weather conditions
- Average and maximum heart rate
- Calories / active energy burned
- Step count and elevation gain
- An encoded polyline of the GPS route traveled during the workout
Important: HealthKit and Health Connect data is never used for advertising, never sold, never used to build a profile of you, and never shared with third parties for marketing.
You can revoke health-data permission at any time:
- iOS: Settings β Health β Data Access & Devices β WorkoutWoof
- Android: Settings β Apps β Health Connect β WorkoutWoof
You can delete a stored workout from your WorkoutWoof account by deleting the associated session in-app, or you can delete all of your stored workout data by deleting your WorkoutWoof account (see Section 8).
2.4 Location Data
WorkoutWoof uses location to power discovery (finding dogs and parks near you), to display weather appropriate to your location, to track your workout route while a session is in progress, and to facilitate meetups. Location handling involves several distinct flows:
- β’Permission levels. On iOS, the app may request βWhile Using the Appβ or βAlwaysβ location permission. The βAlwaysβ permission is requested only so that the workout-route tracker continues to record your route when your phone is locked or you switch apps during an active workout. Background location collection stops automatically as soon as you end the workout. You may downgrade to βWhile Usingβ or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
- β’Home-base location for dog profiles. Each dog profile has a home-base latitude/longitude (derived from the address or pin you set) plus a geohash used for proximity search. The home-base coordinates are stored on our servers for as long as the dog profile is active.
- β’Display fuzzing. When other users view a dog on the discovery map, WorkoutWoof intentionally offsets the displayed pin by approximately a half mile so that no other user can see a dog's exact home. The underlying precise coordinates are stored on our servers (they are needed to compute proximity) but are not shown to other users.
- β’Workout routes. During a workout, GPS samples are collected and encoded into a route polyline. The route polyline is saved to the corresponding session record and is visible to you and to your booking counterparty.
- β’Meetup locations. When a session is scheduled, the agreed meetup latitude/longitude is stored on the session record so both parties can see where to meet.
- β’Weather. Your approximate location is sent to Apple WeatherKit (on iOS) or to our weather provider (on Android/Web) so we can show you local conditions for safety recommendations. We receive only the weather reading; the request itself is not retained as a location history on our servers.
We do not maintain a separate, continuously updating βlocation historyβ of your movements outside of active workouts. We do not sell or share location data for advertising.
2.5 Information from Third Parties
- Authentication Providers: When you sign in, we receive a limited set of identifiers from your chosen provider:
- Sign in with Apple (available on iOS, Android, and Web) β Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email (which may be a privacy-relay address that Apple manages on your behalf).
- Google Sign-In (available on Android and Web) β Google account identifier, name, and email.
- Email and password (all platforms).
- App Stores and Payments: Subscription and entitlement metadata is handled through StoreKit (Apple) or Google Play Billing (Google). We receive transaction confirmation, product identifier, purchase date, expiration, and renewal status. We do not receive your full credit-card number.
- Service Providers and Cloud Platform: Firebase / Google (the principal cloud platform for our backend), Apple (Sign in with Apple, HealthKit, WeatherKit, MapKit, Push Notification Service, WatchConnectivity), and our transactional email provider. See Section 4 for the named sub-processor list.
3) How We Use Information
We use the information described in Section 2 to:
Important: We do not use HealthKit, Health Connect, location data, or any other personal information for advertising, and we do not share any personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising or for their independent marketing.
5) Content Moderation and Automated Review
To keep WorkoutWoof safe for users, dogs, and our community, we apply automated content moderation to user-generated content, including chat messages, dog and user bios, and ratings/reviews. Moderation includes profanity filtering, basic spam and abuse detection, and image-content checks on uploaded photos. We may also act on user reports submitted through the in-app βreportβ feature.
Your chat messages are visible to the other participant(s) in the chat and to our moderation systems for safety purposes. They are not used for advertising, are not read by humans except in response to a user report, an enforcement investigation, or a legal request, and are not shared with anyone outside WorkoutWoof except as described in Section 4.
6) Your Choices & Controls
To exercise privacy rights described in Section 10, contact info@workoutwoof.com.
7) Data Security
We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including:
- β’Encryption in transit. All communications between the app and our backend use TLS.
- β’Encryption at rest. Our cloud backend (Google Firebase) encrypts stored data at rest using industry-standard mechanisms. Sensitive fields including your email address are additionally encrypted at the application layer using AES-GCM before being written to our database.
- β’Secure key and token storage. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore β secure enclaves provided by the operating system.
- β’Image hardening. Uploaded photos are re-encoded server-side to strip all metadata (EXIF, TIFF, IPTC), and uploads are rate-limited per user to prevent abuse.
- β’Access controls. Internal access to user data is limited to personnel who need it to operate the Services, under contractual confidentiality and least-privilege controls.
- β’Routine review. We periodically review our security posture and incident-response readiness.
Despite these measures, no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee absolute security and you provide information to us at your own risk.
